WONDER WOMAN POWER POSE, ROCK THROWING, AND LETTING GO.

Okay first let me tempt your ears with these gentlemen and one of their gorgeous tunes. I adore music from so many genres and eras, but I have this weakness for classical. Classical strings in particular. And The Trouble Notes are super inspiring. They give you ALL SORTS of inspiration. Why not open yourself up to some of that? I’ve had them playing on my Spotify and my YouTube a lot lately, and you should consider giving them a listen as they just might set the tone for a lovely and potentially magical day. Enjoy, and then on to the post below :)

OK, let’s begin with Wonder Woman. I love this character, and I have been drawing upon her strength lately. I like all the various versions of her, but for the sake of the post, and also because she's my fave, I wanted to show Lynda Carter's old school depiction, standing in all her BADASS glory.

Now years ago when Grey’s Anatomy was in its infancy, during the time frame when McDreamy’s sister had just come onto the show as a series regular, I clearly recall catching an episode where her character is about to perform a particularly stressful surgical operation. She is quietly but absolutely terrified. Cut to a shot of her standing in the surgery prep area, striking a Wonder Woman pose, breathing deeply, and attempting to flash a knowing smile.

Another character enters the scene and this opens up a discussion about how standing in this power pose helps you to get to a powerful sense of self belief as well as a sense of strength.

Behold the pose. Stand like this when you need to feel stronger. If you're feeling it, screenshot this and add it to your phone's screensaver so that you can be reminded that YOU ARE WONDER WOMAN. YOU. GOT THIS.

So I've had a fair bit of shifting about in my personal life recently, and currently. Actually throughout my entire life. AS HAVE WE ALL. This power pose has helped through some rather intense moments in the past, in the present, and I’m positive it will help with anything that comes up in the future.

I was reminded of it recently when I stumbled across a Ted Talk about it, and body language in general. Check out the link if you'd like to get into the nitty-gritty of actual science about how adopting this power stance can send you into a more powerful frame of mind.

Also, I added Wonder Woman herself as my phone screensaver, to remind me to stand strong; to BE strong. Getting this visual reminder every time I pick up my phone has been good, and I thought it could be useful for you too.

Maybe you're struggling with something on some level. And like me, you need to be reminded of the fact that you're quite a FABULOUS HUMAN BEING!

Now let's talk about rocks. Yes, rocks. I would like to discuss how picking some of them up and throwing them away might help you let go of some heavy stuff that you quite simply don't want to carry around anymore.

This pile of rocks = some of my “stuff”.

I live in a place that has many a stream cris-crossing the landscape. In and around all of these streams (called “burns" in Scotland) are so many rocks. Every shape and size and of various weights. I happen to enjoy walking across this cris-crossed landscape, and lately I've been picking up rocks as I stroll along.

If you're in a landscape that has no streams, can you get to a place near the ocean? Or can you get to a place that might have some cliffs or even any large expanses of grassy field or land? I think this exercise will help in any of these scenarios. I myself have also tried this with the ocean, but picturing it now, I’m positive that it's mostly about the act of throwing the rocks far away from yourself that is the most important element of this exercise in letting go.

Once you've figured where to walk, do this: As you're walking along, pick up some rocks and carry them around with you for a little while. Pick up as many as you need.

Let each one of them represent something you’ve been carrying around. It can be an aspect of yourself that you don't care to let define you any longer. It can be a situation you'd like to change; an emotion you'd like to let go of. Maybe you're mad at someone, or maybe you're mad at yourself. Maybe it’s a traumatic day in your past that keeps popping up. Maybe its a belief that you can't have something you deeply desire. Maybe you have a bunch of little somethings that have added up to being a wall between you and your best life or your best self. Maybe all those rocks are the wall that you're ready to tear down.

So, spend some time figuring out what these rocks are, and carrying them around with you. See them become the heavy nuisances, whatever they may be.

Grab as many as you can hold. I’m betting you have plenty of stuff you want to let go of. I have had to throw a metric sh*t ton of rocks lately, and I've had to in my past.

I like casting the rocks into the running water of a stream, or into the ocean because I feel like all the stuff that was thrown into the moving water is getting washed clean.

If you're doing this with a cliffside or a large expanse of land, you can still trust that it was a symbolic gesture and that your rocks will be getting cleansing energy from the earth itself where it landed, as well as the sun and the moon overhead. And they will even get the dust blown off it with the wind. So fear not, if you're not able to get to some moving water.

Just go for a walk, pick up some rocks, feel how heavy and burdensome they are, and cast them far away from yourself when you've had enough. That's it. Just try it.

My last rock throwing session was here a few days ago.

By the way, it seemed like the perfect time to write about letting go. Even all the picture quotes flying around the interwebs are showing all sorts of glorious Autumnal foliage with quotes such as “The trees are about to show us why it's important to let things go.”

Really though. That's all I'm seeing if I dip my toes into social media right now. And it's true, we all know the leaves turn these insanely gorgeous colours and then the trees opt to just let them go. They go stark naked, dropping all the gorgeous colours to the ground.

The trees know it's time to put their energy into other things. It's really quite symbolic. Let go of all that stuff you're carrying around. Throw it away, and put all your energy into something beautiful, something new. And don't you dare forget that you're WONDER WOMAN. YOU GOT THIS.

You. So. Got. This.

The beginnings of seasonal change in Blanefield, Scotland.

Not only are the leaves changing, but this was another cycle of change captured. I photographed the last day the signets were with their parents. They were gone the next day, only their parents remaining.

One final symbolic thing. I found a clean slate shortly after letting all my stuff go. Literally, a clean slate. I took it back to the stream and washed all the dirt off, and of course I carried it home.

The clean slate in it's new home. Perfect backdrop for a lucky horseshoe

Okay, thank you for visiting, and have a lovely day or night wherever in the world you might be.
