IT'S A SHOP: MINIMALIST HOURS, MAXIMALIST VIBES.

Tomorrow is the 3rd birthday of our wee shop in Killearn. Rather than a bite-sized bit of imagery and verbiage on Instagram, I thought I’d hop on here and birth the first blog in over three years. Let it be known these are my words, and not AI. It’s Tara here, and I’ll try to nutshell it. Ha.

Firstly, looking at the world and it’s collective vibes over the last few years, we are delighted to have made it though all that, and to still be calling our lovely shop our second home. Here’s to many more years in that fabulous space, and in whatever form it takes for us.

We genuinely love it, we love our clients, and now that we’ve experienced manning a shopfront over the last few years, in a bid for a better work/life balance, and time to grow in other directions, we’ve decided to change the opening hours, leaving extra space to offer a more relaxed and tailored consultation and shopping experience.

I’d like to add that we've each experienced customer service at its absolute worst in recent times, and we want to take a stand against that. We'd like to get back to that human connection both in person, and with our online offerings, if that makes sense. We’re not chat bots. We’re real people, selling real products and services that we love.

All that being said, we’ve decided to move to Shopping by Appointment Fridays, and more of an Open House format on Saturdays. There is method to the madness, I’ll expand.

Shop by Appt Fridays are for all of the following…

Skincare & Product Consultations (online and at the shop), One-to-One Shopping for everything in the shop including Jewellery Cabinet, Gifts & Cards, Bath Bar Refills, Good Hydration Water tastings, etc.

Inspiration for this change has been looking at our own vibes/moods in recent times. Last year was all sorts of layers of tough, and we felt less than enthused through the end of it.

I recall some years back, pre Covid times, there was a popular bakery that opened in Glasgow. They began to take over social media, and I recall they had lines out the door, selling out of their goodies every time they opened said door. I desperately wanted to try one their Cronuts: a mix beween a donut and a croissant. Cut a long story short, and I never got my Cronut. The bakery got HUGE. So huge in fact, they closed due to losing their sparkle and joy about it all.

Now we do not have a line at the door every time we open. But what we do have, is a client list of the loveliest people, and a desire to offer them a quiet, stress-free and personalised shopping and consultation experience.

Our shop is quite the opposite of a traditional shop with traditional wares, and particularly when solo, we're obviously not staffed for greeting large, unexpected groups of people through the door at all times. Keeping things generally quieter and by appointment allows us to focus solely and completely on the clients actively seeking us out.

Finally, this quiet vibe also gives us the ability to fine tune and grow everythings we’re focused on, and it helps us to keep that magic alive for everyone who crosses our threshhold both in quieter times and for our Open House hours on Saturdays.

Well, so much for nutshelling it! I think AI could help with paring my words down, but here we are! Okay enough verbiage for the moment. I'm wishing you all the loveliest day out there. May you find yourself doing something that inspires you. And please dont hesitate to get in touch if you need anything.
